About This Series

In the late 80’s, I began a series of paintings that explored the possibility of two coexisting visual realities that portrayed man and nature in harmonious coexistence. A specific, recognizable face and a consistent living environment were chosen to enable the viewer to participate in this visual game and marvel at the completion of the image. My never ending fascination with nature, science, mechanics and culture inspired and yielded this exciting and vibrant new imagery.

MC Escher’s use of contrary motion and negative space, Guiseppe Acrimboldi’s composition with fruit, Salavdor Dali’s paranoiac-critical method of creative seeing, and Chuck Close’s system of building images out of clusters of accumulated marks can all be considered historical bloodlines to this work.
